Owyhee Blue Opal Ring in Sterling Silver - La Petit Bleu

Almost art noveau in feel, this petite ring is oh so comfortable to wear, and the color is a shade of blue not often found in gemstones.
The stone is 2.35 carats, and measures 12mm. x 7.7mm. x 2.9mm (1/2" X 5/8") in size. This ring is a size 6 1/4, and can be sized up about a half size if need be. If you wear a different size, I am always happy to create a custom ring for you. About Owyhee Blue Opal
Most people are familiar with the flashy precious opals from Australia that exhibit the iridescent colors, but opal also comes in quiet translucent and opaque colors ranging from white all the way through the rainbow to black, and is found all over the world. Some of the more well known of these translucent and opaque opals are the red and orange fire opals from Mexico, and the pink and turquoise blue opal from Brazil.
This beautiful cape cod blue opal is found in a thunderegg formation in the scenic Owyhee Mountains of Eastern Oregon here in the United States. Thundereggs are rough spheres, most about the size of a baseball—though they can range from less than an inch to over a meter across. They usually contain centers of chalcedony in the form of agate, jasper or opal. Thundereggs are found globally wherever conditions are right, and the USA, Oregon especially, is one of the most famous thunderegg locations.
